Schenectady, NY: “I believe Congressman Tonko has put officers and the Department in danger with his reckless, incomplete information on what actually happened,” Said Liz Joy
“It is unacceptable, unprofessional and alarming that Democrat Congressman Paul Tonko jumped to such harsh conclusions putting out an extremely damaging statement about the Schenectady Police Department regarding the incident that happened on Monday. Police Chief, Eric Clifford responded in a statement that Tonko never even bothered to call him or the Mayor to get the facts before rushing to judgement,” Said Joy
“The Police must be able to review all of the facts and evidence, including full video footage. I believe Congressman Tonko has put officers and the Department in danger with his reckless, incomplete information on what actually happened. Our Schenectady Police Department has worked tirelessly round the clock to keep our city safe and sound since the death of George Floyd. The Chief, as well as officers, have walked with community members and protestors to listen to concerns and form strong relationships. As the future Congresswoman of NY20, I will always work with our amazing law enforcement community and not against them. I’ll wait for the facts to come out and give the public the full measure of Monday’s incident,” Joy Said.
